Legend has it, that Daedalus was the builder of the labyrinth for King Minos of Crete. He was a renowned craftsman and inventor.  It is said that before his time, statues had their arms fixed stiffly to their sides - Daedalus gave them naturalistic poses and, some say, the power of movement. Ovid tells in his Metamorphoses (VIII:183-235) that Daedalus was imprisoned in the king's tower to prevent his knowledge of the labrynth from being made public. It is said that he fashioned wings for himself and his son, Icarus, out of bird feathers and wax to enable them to fly to freedom. Daedalus cautioned his son to neither fly too high, lest the sun melt his wings, nor too low, as the sea foam would soak the feathers resulting in him falling from the sky. While this cautionary tail is a bit tragic, we thought it an appropriate analogy for the healthcare landscape.
